winter is here

So, yeah, it's been a while since I was here. The start of the school year is always a little busy, trying to get back into the swing of things. At least that's the excuse I'll use right now :p

Life has been pretty good. Busy, but good. Wes and Briar traveled to Florida with their family and mom and dad flew to join them. So, Gary and I were home alone. Between our work schedules and my school schedule, you'd never guess there were two of us in our house. Everyone is back now, so that's good.

Last weekend (Jan 14) we had our first real taste of winter for this year. On Monday morning everything was covered with an inch of ice. It made for a lot of work trying to scrape the car and it made driving conditions pretty slick. But it also made everything beautiful. The snow on the ground was all sparkly and the trees glinted and glistened in the sunshine and looked like glass. Tuesday night as I was leaving Brock, the lights reflecting on the trees made them look like silver and gold against the night sky. It was gorgeous.

The crazy thing with this weather is that we've been waiting for the cold snap so that we could get the ice wine harvest and pressing going, but with all the ice we still can't pick even though it's cold enough.

Anyhow, all the beauty reminded me of a song that I really enjoy. So, here are the lyrics...

Creation Calls

I have felt the wind blow, whispering your name
I have seen your tears fall when I watch the rain

How could I say there is no God when all around creation calls
A singing bird, a mighty tree, the vast expanse of open sea

Gazing at a bird in flight, soaring through the air
Lying down beneath the stars, I feel your presence there

I love to stand at ocean's shore and feel the thundering breakers roar
To walk through golden fields of grain 'neath endless blue horizon's frame

Listening to a river run, watering the earth
Fragrance of a rose in bloom, a newborn's cry at birth

How could I say there is no God when all around creation calls
A singing bird, a mighty tree, the vast expanse of open sea

I love to stand at ocean's shore and feel the thundering breakers roar
To walk through golden fields of grain 'neath endless blue horizon's frame

I believe, I believe, I believe

Nice pics. That must have taken a while to compile.
